Energy transition should be not only green and digital, but also fair, ensuring no one is be left behind as cities move forward to implement climate policies.


One way to engage people in this process is through technology. There are different tools for

  • Collecting and exchanging energy consumption data

  • Measuring solar potential in the building stock

  • Modeling the impact of new energy sources and flexibility potentials


... to give some examples. So when does ethics come into play?


When insights from digital solutions extend beyond physical properties to shed light on (sensitive) social aspects - for instance, habits, profiles and vulnerabilities of people affected by energy measures. In this case, ethical considerations become paramount.
